A not-so-conclusive guide to the hottest places on earth.
As the slow ascent out of winter begins, many of us begin planning for our summer vacations. You know–that 1-2 weeks a year that we sit on until the weather is just right so we can leave whatever land-locked city we build our lives around and head to the coast for whatever it is we vacation for. So to help you in your process of determining where you will go, I have created a guide that you will hopefully find either useful or will just serve as very beautiful eye candy that will have you dreaming of white sands, tropical adventures, and crystal clear water ready to be explored.
What to know: all-inclusive in Cancun; beach with white sands but also plenty of pools; gorgeous guest rooms with a variety of upgrade options; adults only = complete relaxation and romance; great for honeymoons and anniversaries
How to get there: flights into Cancun, Mexico and then a short 30-minute taxi ride to the resort
What to know: not all-inclusive (the U.S. does not have any all-inclusive resorts); great for families and couples; stay in a 2-bedroom villa waterfront or in resort guest room overlooking serenity pool; 21+ pool option with beautiful cabanas for lounging; five restaurants on site offering diverse menu options; dolphins on property
How to get there: flights to Miami and rent a car for a stunning, you will not regret 2 hour drive down to the middle of the Keys where you will find Duck Key, Florida (about 30 minutes below Islamorada and 15 minutes before Marathon)
What to know: you can choose an all-inclusive plan which I suggest you opt for because restaurants are limited in the U.S. Virgin Islands; several adventure programs; caters more towards families; infinity pool overlooking ocean; 2 and 3 bedroom villas available with gorgeous views; shopping nearby; take a boat across the water and have a brief encounter with nature in St. John (the other U.V.I. island); no passport needed as this is a United States territory
How to get there: fly into STT which is only 6 miles away from the resort, resort does not offer shuttle service but a taxi should only cost you about $10
What to know: luxurious hotel on Hawaii’s 2nd largest island Maui; ranked #2 TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice for 2013 for having the best service; caters to couples looking for romance at every turn; excellent beach; marble bathrooms, pricey meals but quality dining experiences; golf course; spa; variety of room options
How to get there: flights to Kahului Airport (OGG) are available through 7 airline carriers and then a 30 minute taxi ride will have you swept into this resort’s welcoming and capable arms
If you’re searching for the perfect tropical getaway, keep in mind what it is you are most looking for in a vacation and allow it to guide you as you make your decision.
Is it water sports? Excellent cuisine? Pristine beaches? Or couples only?
No matter what the answers are to these questions, one thing is certain: it better be hot.
